The summer is almost here and you are looking for a great way to lose some weight or just stay in shape. Thinking about exercise usually bring one thought to people’s mind, boring and something that I really do not want to do. But this summer you might want to try something fun and different. Weight loss is something that if you are thinking about it you should want to do something that you will have fun doing. Walking is one such thing that you will see as fun and it will not seem like exercise but rather like a fun thing to do.

Before you get started on your walking for weight loss plan, get a comfortable pair of walking shoes. You will need these to protect your feet and ankles. Some of the ways that you might get on board with having fun with walking and losing weight is to: **Start off by committing that you will walk for 30 minutes each day. You might think that 30 minutes is very long but it’s not and it will fly by very quickly. Get out your journal and commit to just that. Once you start, though, you will soon realize that you are walking much more than 30 minutes. And as you begin to walk you will start discovering some interesting trail that might make you enjoy the beauty of your surrounding much more.

**Stay committed to your goal. There will be days that you might not feel like walking but still get your gear on and go out. Once you are out, you will forget that you did not want to walk and you will feel so much better that you have. If you are trying to figure something out and getting stuck, that might be your time to go walk. Walking is a good way to clear the cobwebs from your brain and give you a fresh way of looking at a problem.

**Take the dog walking. Animals are a great exercise buddy. They get so excited when you take them outdoors that you just cannot help but get happy to be out there too.

**If you do not have a dog, then get some buddies. Your neighbor might be a good buddy to have; you can use your kids, spouse, your co-worker, or your best friend. **Another great buddy system to use is your IPod. Just download your favorite music and soon you will be walking and not thinking about much because you will have your favorite music jamming to. Music will also keep you motivated and forget that you are actually exercising.

Remember that not because you hear the word exercise it has to be a dread. It can also be a lot of fun. And walking gets you outdoors and gives you a chance to observe your surroundings rather than just driving pass it.

You might just be lucky and meet some other people who have the same weight loss goal as you and you will get a buddy to keep you motivated for the summer walks.
